About Us
Helping Adults Achieve Personal, Educational & Career Goals
Since 1999, the Adult Education Centre has helped learners aged 19+ upgrade their academic skills and earn valuable high school credits. Each year we see an average of 75 graduates achieve their Manitoba High School Diploma, while many more complete the required courses needed to successfully continue on to post-secondary education or employment.
What We Do
The Adult Education Centre, through funding from the Department of Adult learning and Literacy, offers adults the opportunity to take literacy and high school credit courses in a supportive classroom environment.
Many of our learners work toward achieving their Mature Student High School Diploma. Other students have graduated from high school and are able to take additional courses they need for post-secondary programs of study or for work.
We offer a range of grade 11 and 12 courses, including three mathematics options, English language arts options, science courses, preparatory literacy and numeracy classes, and other elective courses from a variety of subject areas.
We Meet the Demands of Your Busy Schedule
At the Adult Education Centre, we work on a semester system; Semester 1 runs from September to the end of January and Semester 2 runs from February to mid-June. Classes are available mornings, afternoons, and evenings, and are scheduled twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays). There are no classes during the two-week school Winter break or the one-week school Spring Break.
Our Mission
To provide a supportive, adult-friendly and lifelong learning environment where adults can develop and achieve their personal, educational and career goals through literacy and high school credit courses.
