Staff Awareness & Training
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Assist and support staff in understanding and promoting inclusive education practices.
- Occupational (OT) and Physiotherapy (PT) staff hired to assist in student program planning and training.
- Clinical staff (Social Work, Phycologists, Speech and Language pathologists) work as school team members to support student program planning, families and staff capacity building.
- Liaise with government and community supports in providing appropriate educational plans (student specific plans) for students.
- Utilized a circle of support model for all accessibility needs: Circle of Support.
- Creation of the Seven Oaks School Division Anti-Racism Advisory Group.
- Respect in Schools training by all Seven Oaks School Division staff.
- Engage all staff in learning opportunities in accessibility realities.
- As requested and required, provide reasonable accommodations for staff, students, families, and the public.
NEXT STEPS
- Continue to provide professional development opportunities for all employee groups in promoting inclusive practices.
- To provide staff awareness of the Divisional Accessibility plan through staff meetings, professional development, and committees such as Workplace Safety Health.
- To provide training to all staff on accessible service.
- To provide training to all members of the Human Resources Department, school Administrators, and Program Directors on accessible employment.
